Meet Tea Hacic-Vlahovic
“Tea is a Croatian born, American raised writer, filmmaker and TV host. While studying Fashion Design in Milan, she wrote two blogs, CRUMPETS & Sugar Tits which led to popular columns for Wired and Vice Italy and a television series called Sex in the World on La3. Since moving to New York, she became contributing editor for Wonderland Magazine and the creator and host of the talk show, Everything is Embarrassing, on Bullett TV. She’s currently writing and hosting a variety show in Los Angeles called Just The Tip and working on a new clothing line with her husband.”

ON HER MORNING ROUTINE
I wake up at 7:00 and walk my dog. I usually take her to the dog park so I can just sit in the sun for like thirty minutes while she annoys other people’s pets. On the way home I stop by Swallow Café and get coffee for myself and a chocolate croissant for my sleeping husband. Then I usually get back into bed for a few hours and do some writing until it’s time to walk my dog again!
On HER AESTHETIC
My aesthetic is “non-profit cam girl from outer space on her way to get her nails done at the mall.” I shop online, mostly. Farfetch Sales are my Scientology. I really get a kick out of buying stuff before trying it on! It thrills me in the way party drugs used to.
ON HER CREATIVE OUTLETS
I got into stand-up very recently. I say I did it when Trump started running for president but the truth is I wanted more control over my creativity. The past couple of years I’ve been involved in many projects which fell apart because of other people…I know that’s unavoidable in this business but it was really driving me crazy so I decided to do stand-up in order to have ONE thing I’m solely responsible for. If I fail as a comic, it’s my fault, and so far I’m not failing.

On HER CAREER
I was a columnist for Vice and Wired Italy for years. A TV exec was reading my stuff and eventually approached me with the idea to host a show about sex. I did one season of that before moving back to America. I’ve created and starred in a new TV show called Just the Tip. I wanted to make a children’s show for adults, a kind of Pee Wee’s Playhouse for the Tumblr generation.
ON THE LAUNCH OF HER CLOTHING LINE
I studied fashion design in Milan and worked for a few brands before deciding I didn’t want to be someone’s assistant for fifteen years. Luckily I found a man who is also into fashion so it’s much easier to start a brand with his help. We’re working on our first collection now. The brand is called WINKLE and it’s very glamorous in the way love motel rooms are!

ON HER MAKEUP ROUTINE
Since I work from home, most days I just wear BB cream but when I’m like, meeting people or walking my dog somewhere “cool”, I wear Saint Laurent Fusion Ink Foundation SPF 18, Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat Radiant Touch, Bobbi Brow's sheer pressed powder, Yves Saint Laurent Blush Volupté, Dior Dior Addict It-Lash Mascara, Mac Eyeshadow Palette, NARS Stylo Liquid Eyeliner and Sephora Collection Cream Lip Stain Liquid Lipstick. I also wear Yves Saint Laurent's Baby Doll. I am really into glitter at the moment. I’m a Sephora VIB member which is embarrassing.
On HER BEAUTY ROUTINE
My beauty routine is exhausting. I have to remove handfuls of hair from my face like every second. I feel like I have really big pores, too. I don’t know if I’m paranoid or if they’re actually huge but I think I should talk to a professional about it, like a facialist or a therapist. Anyway, I use Kiehl’s products for skincare (Midnight Recovery Concentrate, Precision Lifting & Pore Tightening Concentrate and Cleary Corrective Dark Circle Perfector) also a Clarisonic brush. I’m not sure if the brush actually works but I tell myself that something so expensive must! I also love Burt's Bees Acne Pore Refining Scrub, Clinique Super City block SPF 40 and Donna Karan Cashmere Mist Deodorant.
TEA'S FAVORITE SHOP
My favorite shop at the moment is Buffalo Exchange. I just found a pair of white Juicy Couture jeans with rhinestones on them (as seen in pics) and some bell bottoms from 2001 which are very “avant-garde” at the moment. I also like picking up stuff I’ve sold them and forgotten about!

My favorite lunch spots in Williamsburg are Café Mogador and Samurai Mama. Hotel Delmano makes the best dirty martinis and my favorite dinner is buttered popcorn at Nighthawk Cinema.
