After a brief stint of living in London and New York, Mathilde Hamart returned to her roots in Paris where she began her career as a producer. She earned a Master’s Degree in Cultural Mediation, then fell in love with producing where she now works as a production manager in advertising. For her personal project, she and her friend Julie Lansom launched their swimwear line, EPI SWIM, with a new collection set for April.

ON HER MORNING ROUTINE

I wake up around 8 AM, and I get ready for work. I like to jump straight into the shower and get ready quickly even if I have to change my outfit two or three times before leaving. I rarely eat before going to work, so I usually get a fruit or fresh juice along with a green tea around 11 AM.

ON HER CAREER AS A PRODUCER

Once I finished my Master's Degree, I started working as an event production manager at Le Fooding. I really learned a lot during that time. I also realized that I liked production and that I was good at it. Then I quit my job and left for New York in 2014, where I lived for two years. I mainly did retail jobs, but I loved and enjoyed the chance at being a New Yorker.

When I came back in Paris it was natural for me to go back to the production field. I started to work for a video production company where I’m still working now. We develop digital and TV projects for beauty and fashion brands. For example, I recently worked on the new Comptoir des Cotonniers campaign which was a really challenging and fun project. I also collaborated for the first time with Barbara Anastacio. It was a great creative and human experience. I am really proud of this campaign.

  Charlotte's favorite books
I’m a huge fan of The Smiths. It is my number one choice every time!

ON HER FAVORITE BOOKS

I love Herman Hesse. I really like his initiation books. My favorites are Demian, Narcisse & Goldmund and The Glass Bead Game. I also read a lot of Russian literature such as Tolstoy and Dostoyevsky. War and Peace is maybe my favorite book along with Le Rouge et le Noir de Stendhal.

ON HER FAVORITE PARTS OF HER DAILY ROUTINE

I really love the people I work with at my office but also the directors, DPs, and editors. I have the chance to work and meet great new people all the time. That's what I like best about my job.

I love to cook so whenever I have time, I go straight to the grocery store after work and prepare a nice dinner. I love cooking traditional French food but also North African food.

On HER BEAUTY Routine

I clean my face with l’huile nettoyante from AESOP. Then I used Le Gel B Triple C mixed with l’huile fabuleuse. I do that, every morning and night. For makeup, my favorite products is NARS lipstick and YSL touche éclat.

MATHILDE'S Beauty Tip

I don’t wear makeup that much. When I wear lipstick, usually red, I like to have nothing on my eyes. I also sometimes wear a brown eyeshadow but never with mascara. I also never had my eyebrows plucked. I kind of like it this way.

ON Shopping and personal style

I’ll say that I have a casual look. I like to mix pieces from Weekday, Monki, & Other Stories, along with some vintage or higher brand. I love long dresses, coats, high waisted skirts, and pants. I rarely leave my house without my Doc Martens!

On THE SKILLS NEEDED TO BE A PRODUCER

To be a video production manager, the most important skills are to be really organized, have a good relationship with people, be flexible and reliable, and find solutions to every problem. It also helps to work closely with the director to help them realize their creative and artistic views.

ON Her PERSONAL AND CREATIVE PURSUITS

I created swimwear brand, EPI SWIM, with my friend Julie Lansom. It is a fun and creative project that I enjoy working on. We had really good feedback on our first collection. We’re looking forward to launching the new collection which will be out in April while we plan to develop other products.
