I look for quality of the material, interesting textures always fascinate me and of course the right cut! Search and Destroy on St. Marks, Opening Ceremony and Dover Street Market are great spots for that.
I wake up, pet my cat, oil pull for 20 mins then have a cup of tea. Sometimes I’ll get out my yoga matt and do sun salutations to get my mind and body in sync for the day.
I kinda built my closet from this vintage shop in Toronto that I worked in. It helped that we would get first dibs.
What I love about my job is the ability to make an impact on culture and aesthetics. Its inspiring to create work that can be looked back on as a moment in history.
I found TONYMOLY through a friend. He said he would often go there to buy lip moisturizing gels, it honestly mostly peaked my interest because I thought it would be a funny thing to shoot in all of its fuscia transparent splendour.
Reena Spaulings is a collectively authored novel set in present day NYC about a twenty-something woman who works as a museum guard, is “discovered” and hired to model in an international advertising campaign, after which she gets fame and money, things change, the city experiences some very bad weather and strange new forms of social disobedience, and an idea is hatched to make a musical called ‘Battle Over Broadway.’
I found Mini Yolo when I was on a work trip in Peru. One of the models showed me this similar stuffed alpaca she found at a market, when we were about to board a flight back to New York and I decided I couldn’t leave without one. I ended up finding him at a little gift shop and getting back to the gate before the gate closed. His name comes from a wifi network we tried to hook up to in Lima.
My ideal weekend - photo excursions in nature, the beach with a lover, hanging out in bed existing with my best friend.
