I was introduced to the concept of studying art as a career path in high school when I first enrolled in a public art school program.
I do all of my work in a watercolor sketchbook, starting with pencil and finishing with a brush and ink. I couldn’t live without my sable hair brush and acrylic ink.
I wake up at 7:30am, thanks to my three furry alarm clocks. Take care of them, shower, and I’m out of the house by 8 o’clock. I drive to my studio in Chinatown and immediately go to my favorite coffee shop, Endorffeine and then start my work day.

Tuesday's favorite books

The Madame Paul Affair by Julie Doucet is one of my favorite comic books. I credit Doucet with being a huge inspiration on my style and approach to work.

My boyfriend, Ben and I together have three miniature dachshunds. Ben had Scully before we started dating, but I met my first dog, Gus through his foster. Shortly after, the rescue asked if we could help foster a puppy that had been traumatized, and though we did not want a third dog, we fell in love with her and kept Baby Tiny.
I like to go to local shops to buy clothes and I try to buy only from small businesses. I have two “linen sacks” from Black Crane that I wear all summer long. Otherwise, I wear black jeans and tops from my own collection of clothing I produce.

The Crucifucks was one of the first punk albums I bought on vinyl and have held onto. They’re everything I think a punk album should be: political, silly, and crass.

I try to keep it as simple as possible; I use Malin and Goetz face wash (it seems to be the only thing that doesn’t irritate my sensitive skin), a Nars concealer, and I go in once a month for lash extensions so I don’t have to worry about eye makeup for an everyday look. My tip - Put stock in your passion, not your face.
