I very rarely actually shop - my closet is a collection of items that I’ve accumulated over time, that have seen me through a lot of different phases from age 10-26. A lot of my clothes have a patina to them, a nice way of saying they are full of holes, but once I love something I have a hard time letting it go, so it evolves into something else.

I wake up way earlier than I need to so I can ease into my day with coffee, news, and exercise. I typically don’t eat breakfast but if it’s the weekend I’ll meet friends for brunch or lay around Transmitter Park.

My closet is full of patterns that I like to collage in sometimes non-sensical ways, always anchored by something simple or black, usually from Uniqlo or similar.

Mast books was my old neighborhood bookstore, I’ve collected so many gems from there. This Raymond Carver book (also from Mast) is my favorite compilation of his stories, I’ve always been touched by his melancholy.

A 20th Century Art survey course with Branden Joseph at Columbia woke me up. I’ve been making photos for 10 years, but I realized towards the end of university that I was less an artist than a producer, in that I am meant to work with artists instead of create myself. I’m a process nerd, I could talk about materials or fabrication processes for days.

I typically just use rose water and a La Roche Posay tinted moisturizer and use a bit of black eyeliner (habit from teen years). Aside from that I really like lip stain, anything that doesn’t need to be reapplied a lot.

My music taste fluctuates with seasons, right now I’m listening to a lot of 70s psych rock because it’s summer and I need a lazy vibe. In the winter it’s more house and disco because I need to keep going.

In one of my prints, I experimented with that kind of accident, that I then manipulated and developed into a body of work for a book I did with Medium Rare, ‘Of Evident Invisibles’.
I’ve worked with a Contax G2 for the last 7 years, I really like the accident that occurs when I photograph a texture and the camera selects an arbitrary focal point - you can get a really layered abstract composition.
